Analysis

Ivan Kolgan · 28 Oct 2026

Carrefour started with wine: about 50 own-label products carry GS1 QR codes, and GS1 counts about 148 million bottles of Carrefour own-brand wine with the code. Carrefour named the order of the next categories after new EU rules: wine and spirits, then textiles and batteries, where the rules ask for more data than fits on a label. For own-label suppliers the request comes as a new line in the packaging brief, together with the data the code has to link to.
