Analysis

Ivan Kolgan · 21 Oct 2026

dm has tested QR codes at its tills since March 2026 in selected stores, together with GS1 Germany, and has announced no national rollout. A retailer can test at the till only with the codes its suppliers already print. I scanned the QR code on an 8x4 can by Beiersdorf: the web address in it ends in /01/04006000170572. 01 marks the GTIN, the same number as under the barcode, and the till finds the price by this number.
