Analysis

Ivan Kolgan · 26 Oct 2026

ICA put a pack of own-label sausages, ICA I love eco Fresh Salsiccia, on Swedish shelves with no linear barcode, only a 2D code. It is the first such product in Swedish grocery, and wider use is planned from early 2027. GS1 organisations count how many chains have tills that read 2D codes. On the shelf, retailers name single products and ranges, and each of those products is printed on a supplier's line.
